Description:

The position is in a precast concrete plant which is designed to manufacture large amounts of precast units in a timely and efficient manner. It is a growing business but still with the small company atmosphere. The work is relatively fast paced, can be physically demanding, and attention to quality is very important. Minimum Requirements:

•             Education: Not required, other trades certificate or diploma is an asset.

•             Previous labour experience in the concrete and/or construction industry considered an asset

•             Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.)

•             Ability to handle the weight handling of mass up to 45kg (100lbs)

•             Basic mathematical and problem solving skills

•             Understanding of health and safety protocols on construction sites

•             Ability to work independently and as a team member.

•             Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.

Duties:

•             Assembly, preparation, cleaning and dismantling of concrete forms

•             Prepare, tie and place steel reinforcement materials.

•             Direct placement of concrete into forms or surfaces.

•             Reading production drawings (specifically concrete/precast erection drawings)

•             Check products for quality control; Record manufacturing information such as quantity, size and type of goods produced

•             Finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.

•             Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces.

•             Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete.

•             Cleaning up working area at the end of shift

Working conditions:

•             Industrial environment - involves repetitive tasks

•             Work Site Environment - Noisy; Dusty; Indoors/Outdoors in all types of weather

•             Heavy lifting (80-100lbs); standing for extended periods; bending; crouching; kneeling

•             Full-time/Seasonal (40-60 hours weekly)
