YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Sudbury Branch is a dynamic charity dedicated to strengthening the foundations of communities by offering opportunities for personal growth, community involvement and leadership. We have been offering programs and services to the Greater Sudbury community since 1936! Today, we employ more than 70 full-time professionals and up to 250 part-time and seasonal staff. The Sudbury Branch offers programs and services in five areas: Child Care, Camping Services, Health and Fitness, Employment Services and Immigrant Services.

We are currently looking for a Day Camp Counsellor to join our team of committed professionals. This is a summer contract position within the Association and is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Walden location. Under the leadership of the Regional Manager of Camping Services, the Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is dynamic, able to work as part of a progressive team, enjoys working with children and who is capable of managing multiple tasks.

Summary of Qualifications

  • ·Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred
  • ·Experience working with children ages 3 to 12 years of age
  • ·Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • ·Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ·Excellent interpersonal skills
  • ·Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Major Responsibilities

  • ·Plan and deliver daily programs: group games, crafts, swimming, outside time, etc.
  • ·Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
  • ·Communicate and build relationships with parents, guardians, members and guests on a daily basis
  • ·Maintain an accurate HR database and personnel records; and
  • ·Be a positive role model for all program participants
